10 Reasons why we're Different

There’s more to it than veterinary medicine. Here’s 10 of the many reasons to choose Brook Farm.

We'd love to meet you and your pet. Appointments available every day of the week except Sunday.

We know our stuff.

We know what it’s like to be on the other side of the desk wanting the best medicine possible for your pet. We know that pets are like client’s children: they’re like our children, too. We understand our clients and their concerns; knowing that it’s the “little things” that matter. While we’re experienced in our trade, we’re down-to-earth people who can see things for how they are.

We're affordable.

Our prices are reasonable and based on the real world. We provide accessible discounts, such as our 10% multi-pet and 10% senior reductions, as well as 15%-20% discounts stamped on qualifying “reminder” cards. Although there are some services we cannot reduce the price of,  sometimes you have to look beyond the price and consider all things such as quality, reliability, and services we provide. There is a cost to “cheap care” – don’t let it burn you.

We answer the phone.

Our average hold time is less than 3 minutes, and when we can’t provide an answer, we’ll return your call with someone who can. Plus, you always have the option to speak with a live person after hours – no matter what time (just press 1 at the prompt.) Call 3am on New Year’s Day, we’ll pick up.

We hire amazing employees.

The talent runs deep within our organization. This means a better experience for you, and better medicine for your pet. While working at Brook Farm may be great, interviewing isn’t all that fun. Our on-site written competency tests take approximately 1 hour to complete, and our applicants go through a rigorous background check before they join the team. Simply, we find, hire and train the most talented individuals possible and we work hard to keep them.

Founded in 1982.

We’ve been in the business for over 30 years, and in the process have learned some valuable lessons and seen a wide variety of cases. We’re not “fly by night” – we’re not going anywhere. Our longevity and experience matters.

Top-tier medicine.

The medicine we practice is thoroughly researched, tested, and always up-to-date. We realize the advancements that Veterinary medicine has made over the years, and while we update our protocols accordingly, we always take a second look before practicing or providing a new, sometimes hastily-made or researched, vaccine, product, or service. We’re not always interested in the “next best” because, sometimes, it’s not exactly what is in best interest of our patients or clients.

Accessible and convenient.

Every staff member at our practice is thoroughly trained on two things: first, the importance of prompt, thorough, and accurate medical attention for every patient that walks in our doors, regardless of their owner's financial situation. Equally important is the importance of making sure our clients are satisfied with our practice and rectifying and wrongdoings. We spend countless hours reviewing phone calls, surveys, hold times, etc. and employ people solely to overview client retention and happiness. Your pet and your satisfaction is the only thing that matters to us, and we’re willing to take whatever measures needed to secure the trust that we strive to earn every day.

We focus on what matters.

We're a family business.

There’s no corporate pressure, gold/silver/bronze care plans, or decisions made based on what the CEO would prefer. Dr. Kanouse owns and administrates the practice with his wife, Pat, watching the books, and his son, Evan, keeping a watchful eye on the store. We, as a team, make the difference that keeps us in business – each one of us 110% committed to the health of our patients and the happiness of our clients.

We rise to the challenge.

When a sick patient enters our doors, we rise to the challenge and do everything necessary to get him on the road to recovery. It’s not uncommon for a technician to bring a patient home to give fluids at 3am in the morning, for Dr. Kanouse to check in at 6am to make sure everyone had a good night's rest, or for the manager to come back at 9pm to make sure critical fluid equipment is still providing the necessary medicine to a sick pet. We’re local, normal people committed to providing extraordinary care unlike that of any other in the industry.
