Brook Farm Veterinary Center is committed to sustaining strong and vibrant communities, improving quality of life, and making a positive difference where we live and work. Building and sustaining communities together. Lending a helping hand when it’s needed. Through shared commitment and knowledge with our entire staff and client-base, we can achieve uncommon things, together.
Dressing Down for a Cause
We “dress down” our normal attire every Friday in order to support a common cause. Our staff members generously donate each week, which is matched by The Kanouse Family, and then donated to a charity of the group’s choosing.
Past donations have gone to:
- St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
- The Animal Arthritis Foundation
- (more coming soon!)
Putnam Humane Society
Our practice proudly supports and donates to the Putnam Humane Society located in Carmel, NY. Products and medications for their pets are given without charge or at “cost.” By providing medical services at a reduced fee, we make it easier for the ‘Society to operate within their fixed budget. The practice staff also generously donates to the PHS: Maureen, Veterinary Technician, volunteers her time every Wednesday morning, and the entire staff has participated in their annual Murder Mystery Dinner, in which the proceeds go directly to the pets of the shelter.
Supporters of Equal Rights
We support the Equal Rights Campaign of the United States with monthly donations. By welcoming diversity in the work place, we are fostering an open and welcoming environment where individual thought is valued. We operate off of the Living Values Program: Courage, Joy, Spirit, Celebrate, Community, Equality, Diversity. We urge you to do the same.
We adopt!
Almost every member of our staff has adopted at least one of their pets from a local shelter or not-for-profit group. Maureen, Technician, opens her heart and home frequently and donates Wednesday mornings to helping the PHS on site. Barbara, Certified Veterinary Technician, recently adopted Daisy, an injured dog from the Town of Patterson shelter. The staff, as a group, has adopted Klinker, pictured, also from the Town of Patterson shelter, who has become our mascot and brightens our day every morning!
We are always interested in opportunities for further staff involvement. If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, please feel free to contact Evan, Director of Professional Development, at evan@brookfarmemail.com or (845) 878-0401 x241.
