Financial considerations should not be an obstacle to a healthy pet. In the case that you need special payment arrangements, our office manager, Judy, will sit down and discuss your payment plan. Due to the variety of problems we treat, the cost of veterinary care varies from patient to patient.

Being sensitive to the fact that different people have different needs in fulfilling their financial obligations, the following policies are enforced:

Unfortunately, we cannot bill clients for services performed.

Cash and check (with valid drivers license) are accepted, along with Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, Debit, and CareCredit cards.

Our payment plans are processed and subject to approval by CareCredit. CareCredit allows you to pay minimum monthly payments over an extended period of time. Extended payment plans are available.

All estimates require at least 1/2 the total cost as a deposit before the procedure begins.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Credit Administrator Jamie G. at jamie@brookfarmemail.com or (845) 878-0401 x242.

In an ongoing effort to stabalize our prices and continue service without raises, and due to the economy, we feel that it is necessary to put the following regulations into effect.

Missed Appointments
In order to provide exceptional care to each and every pet without rushing, we do not double-book appointments. Each and every time-slot is valuable, and when an appointment is missed or canceled without 24 hours notice, we are unable to provide care for pets that are in need of coming in for medical treatment. Our guidelines for missed appointments (no-show after 15 minutes) and canceled appointments (LESS THAN 24 hours) are as followed:
After your first missed appointment, you will receive a telephone call from a member of our staff to ensure that everything is all right and there has not been an emergency (animal or human!) You will not be charged for this first missed appointment.
After your second missed appointment, you will again receive a telephone call from our office ensuring that no emergencies have occurred. A $25.00 fee WILL be applied to your account.
Please note that if your appointment was over 30 minutes long or a house call, you will immediately be charged the $25.00 fee, as extended time-blocks are extremely valuable. Unfortunately, we cannot offer a first-time waiver for these types of appointments.

Missed Boarding Reservations
At Brook Farm Veterinary Center, we realize that plans sometimes change and in the hubbub of cancelling reservations, flights, etc., boarding reservations are often overlooked. Unfortunately, boarding reservations canceled without 72 hours notice will be charged a $25.00 fee immediately (without a first-time waiver.) Booking for boarding reservations follow the “first come, first serve” guidelines, and we are often unable to book cancelled reservation slots without 72 hours advanced notice.

We realize that, at times, mistakes happen, and occasionally, appointments are missed. As a courtesy, the first-time waiver has been provided for such slip-ups WHEN AVAILABLE. We will greatly appreciate advanced notice for your next appointment, and so will another pet that is in need!

Please feel free to email us with any of your questions or concerns. We welcome telephone calls or emails to main@brookfarmemail.com. Your patience and cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Brook Farm Veterinary Center books appointments from 9am to 6pm (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday), 9am to 7pm (Wednesday), and 8am to 12pm (Saturday) every 15 minutes. We do not “double-book” appointments – meaning that the appointment time that you book is not at the same time as 3 or so other people. We feel that it is absolutely necessary to physically examine patients and talk to their owners in person rather than over the phone – it is nearly impossible to diagnose a pet without an examination.

Walk-ins are accommodated and enter their examination after previously-booked appointments have been seen. Please note during high-volume hours, the wait time may be lengthy. If that is the case, we will offer our next open appointment time or an appointment for later that day.

Please note that emergencies are taken on first priority; over regular appointments. We will immediately take the pet into our care and alert the doctor immediately. Certain technicians and assistants are immediately required to monitor work with the doctor to monitor and stabilize the patient. Previously-booked appointments will be alerted of the emergency and given an estimate wait time. Although emergencies are no excuse to leave a client waiting for their appointment for an extended period of time, people with healthy pets will be given the option to reschedule their appointment. Appointments that are rescheduled will be placed on high-priority for their next visit.

Once you enter the office, a receptionist will greet you followed by our office manager. We will collect necessary information, such as updates to your account, reasoning for your visit, etc. Once the receptionist has completed their duty, they will alert Dr. Kanouse and his technicians that you have arrived and allow them to review your record. After you are called into an examination room, a technician will greet you once more and talk to you about your pet’s medical history and collect more information for the doctor. Dr. Kanouse will talk to you about your pet and explain every aspect of your pet’s health condition. He will answer your questions, provide preventative care information, and share his thoughts about your pet’s diagnosis. After you have been seen, you will re-enter our reception area and a receptionist will process your invoice.

We take our appointments very seriously and have implemented a series of procedures to ensure that all pets scheduled receive the best care possible.
