We are so excited to welcome you back inside our lobby. We have been eagerly awaiting this moment for over a year, and we can't wait to see you in person. As we prepare to do so, we would like to remind the community about expectations we have around the kind and appropriate treatment of our staff.
We don’t have to tell you this past year and a half was unprecedented and unpredictable. Though each of our situations were unique, we all struggled – in our personal and professional lives, and to stay safe in the midst of a global pandemic.
During this time, and more than ever before, people became pet owners for the very first time. Families added new four-legged members, and the demand for our care increased two to three times our normal rate, seemingly overnight. Then, just when we were finally starting to catch our breaths and the world was beginning to reopen, new hospital protocols needed to be put in place.
Throughout COVID, our staff continued working. We did not close a single day. During bad weather, holidays, and through other challenging circumstances - our staff continued working, and did so with grace and a smile. It takes over 25 dedicated staff members to care for your pet; we have doubled our staff in one year. For over 35 years, we have never stopped caring for pets, regardless of the circumstances.
You see long wait times and clients who arrived after you, being seen before you. Behind the scenes, our team is conducting phone and in person conversations with family members to explain medical options and help guide them through difficult decisions. They are managing hospitalized pets, ranging from emergencies to other patients who are dependent on our staff for their wellbeing.
We are working harder than ever to care for the pets that need our help. With a nationwide shortage of trained and qualified team members, we are grateful to have this amazing team to take care of your pet. They are passionate about what they do and continually expand their knowledge and skill sets, all while working hours beyond their scheduled shifts, extra shifts, holidays, and weekends. Like human healthcare professionals, they give up time with their own families to care for yours.
When you show our staff kindness, you validate and acknowledge this incredibly hard work.
On behalf of our entire team, I look forward to welcoming you back inside soon, with open arms and an open heart.
